The Real Map of Batchelor According to Me is an Illustrated memoir of place based stories presented in the form of a fold-out map of Batchelor, NT. Stories told by John Scrutton and illustrated by Robyn Frances.
Using her own designs of local birds and animals, Janie Andrews creates bespoke hand screen printed items at her studio just outside Darwin. Items at The Local include: screen printed baby onesies and swaddling blankets ; colourful rows of five NT creatures in ‘prayer flags’ style; kids t-shirts; table mats, table cloths and tea towels. Janie also believes in upcycling and creates one off sculptures of different native birds and animals using recycled fabrics, beads and cotton threads. Janie also makes gifts for small children (and child-like adults!) in creating soft sculptures of the local Orange-footed Scrub Fowls, Fruit Bats and Sea Turtles to name a few. Modern and vintage fabrics are carefully sourced for these creatures. As a full time artist, Janie regularly exhibits and undertakes a constant flow of commissions and residencies throughout the Northern Territory and elsewhere.

I combine silver-smithing and precise stone-cutting skills to create unique jewellery pieces, with semi-precious stones and other natural materials highlighted by simple stylish designs.
Inspiration often comes from the natural patterns and shapes of the materials used. In other pieces, I use a selection of stones to create impressions of well-known Australian landscapes.
While I've been doing this for years, it's always a bit exciting to find something new - like the Archean rocks "down the track". Their exotic patterns reflect their long history - around 3 billion years (the oldest rocks on the planet).

I took up pottery as a way to de-stress from my day job as a social worker, never imagining the journey it would take me on.
I love plunging my hands into mud and creating something beautiful and functional. It still astounds me every time I pull a new creation out of the kiln.
Colour, texture and pattern are central to my work. The patterns on my ceramics are achieved via carving or by imprinting doilies, lace, fabrics and other objects into the clay.
Each piece is a labour of love and handcrafted, so variations in shape and glaze will always occur. No two pieces are alike.
Dragonflylane / Ally B Creative sells novelty soaps and mixed media ceramics.
